One Piece Anime to Go on 3-Month Hiatus as Netflix Sets Season 2 Premiere Date

Tokyo, October 28, 2025:

The world of One Piece is buzzing with excitement — and a little surprise — as Toei Animation officially announced that the One Piece anime will take a three-month hiatus from January to March 2026. The studio confirmed that the series will return in April 2026 with the long-anticipated “Elbaf Arc,” marking the next epic chapter in Monkey D. Luffy’s journey.

According to Toei’s statement, this short production break is meant to improve animation quality and better align the anime’s pacing with Eiichiro Oda’s ongoing manga storyline. The new format will feature around 26 episodes per year, released in two “cours” (six-month seasons), giving the team more flexibility to maintain top-tier visuals and storytelling.

Meanwhile, Netflix has also joined the celebration by announcing that its live-action adaptation of One Piece will return with Season 2 on March 10, 2026, under the title One Piece: Into the Grand Line. The show will continue adapting Oda’s legendary saga with new cast members and an expanded budget, following the massive global success of its debut season in 2023.

Fans across the world are already sharing mixed reactions. Some are thrilled about the promise of higher animation standards, while others worry about waiting through another hiatus. Still, most agree that One Piece deserves the time and polish needed to match the scale of its next adventure — the mysterious land of giants, Elbaf.

With both the anime and live-action series charting their own ambitious courses, 2026 is shaping up to be one of the most exciting years ever for One Piece fans.

Whether it’s Toei’s new direction or Netflix’s expanding universe, One Piece continues to prove why it’s not just an anime — it’s a global phenomenon that never stops evolving.
