Ancient Epics Reimagined in AI Holograms

The India AI Impact Summit 2026, hosted by the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi, showcased groundbreaking fusion of ancient Indian heritage and modern AI from February 16 to 21, 2026. Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the event on February 19 amid world leaders and tech executives, with the expo spanning 70,000 square meters and attracting over 250,000 visitors from 30 countries.

At Reliance Industries' Jio Intelligence Pavilion, visitors encountered transparent cylindrical capsules housing holographic AI avatars of Lord Krishna—adorned in golden raiment, peacock-feathered crown, and flute—and warrior Arjuna in silver tunic with bow. These interactive figures answered philosophical queries like "What is Dharma?", "Who is the biggest enemy inside us?", and "What is the biggest trap for humans?" selected via nearby consoles.

The exhibit promoted "Mahabharat: Ek Dharmayudh," India's first fully AI-generated entertainment series streaming on JioHotstar since October 2025, with 17 episodes available by summit time. A cove-like structure displayed AI-crafted imagery of reimagined ancient cities and battlefields, while a special wall detailed character creation using AI tools. Reliance Jio Chairman Akash Ambani had earlier briefed PM Modi on the company's AI ecosystem, including platforms for healthcare, education, and smart living.

A senior Reliance official highlighted the installation's appeal across generations: "Through technology, our endeavour is to make old epics meet newer generations. So, we have used AI to recreate, reimagine our epic Mahabharat." The pavilion drew crowds for blending cultural narratives with hologram tech, embodying the summit's "People, Planet, and Progress" principles as the first major global AI event in the Global South.

"The decisions we make today will shape the world for generations to come."
