Motorola Signature 27 Just Gatecrashed Qualcomm’s Party. India Still Has No Ticket Price

Motorola did not wait for a Diwali stage. It walked onto Qualcomm’s Snapdragon Summit on 22 September 2026 and put a name on next year’s flagship before the year had even turned.

Signature 27 is the second phone in the ultra-premium line that began with January’s Motorola Signature. The “27” is not a screen size. It is the last two digits of 2027 — Motorola’s new habit of dating the generation. The first Signature still sells in India from ₹59,999. This one is a different animal: new silicon, a 200-megapixel periscope, Bang & Olufsen on the back, and a cooling stack Motorola swears is 40 percent larger than last time. Global availability is “later in 2026.” There is no official rupee tag. Treat every price you see on a leak blog as gossip until Motorola India prints an MRP.

What Motorola actually confirmed?
The chip is Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 — the first handset announced on that platform, unveiled the same day. Motorola’s pitch is on-device AI, camera compute, gaming and six antennas for faster cloud AI. To keep that die from cooking the woven back, the company invented a name: ArcticMesh. Diamond-infused thermal gel, liquid metal, copper mesh, and a redesigned 3D vapour chamber. Forty percent larger than the Signature’s chamber. That is a thermal brochure. It is not a lab chart.

Cameras that are on the record: a 50MP Sony LYTIA 910 main sensor and a 200MP periscope telephoto for distant architecture and the usual 100x marketing zoom. Official images show a large, off-centre camera plateau with more cut-outs than those two lenses. Expect an ultrawide and likely a second tele plus a flash ring. Motorola has not published the full four-sensor sheet. Video gets a new AI “Video Enhancement Engine” that retunes colour while you record, plus a 3.5-degree hardware OIS claim for walking footage. Gemini is wired in: Omni to turn prompts and clips into edited video, Lyria for soundtracks.

Audio is new for Moto. Signature 27 is the first Motorola with Audio by Bang & Olufsen. The badge is etched on the rear. Two finishes, not two cheap paints: Pantone Coal Smoke with a woven, performance-wear texture, and Pantone Capulet Green. Seven years of OS and security updates are promised again. The first Signature was promised the same and, eight months after the India sale, reviewers were still staring at a January 2026 security patch. Write that promise on the box in pencil.

Software will almost certainly be Android 17 under Hello UI. Launch markets: “worldwide in 2026,” details later. That is how a company says the spreadsheet is not finished.

Widely circulated, not confirmed by Motorola
GSMArena and pre-event reports list a 6.8-inch 1264×2780 LTPO AMOLED at 165 Hz with Dolby Vision / HDR10+, Gorilla Glass Victus 2, 12/16 GB RAM, 256 GB / 512 GB / 1 TB UFS 4.1, a ~6,000 mAh silicon-carbon cell, 90 W wired and 50 W wireless, ultrasonic under-display fingerprint. Those numbers rhyme with the first Signature. They are not on Motorola’s Summit sheet. Do not buy a 6,000 mAh rumour.

First Signature, still in shops (for context)

VariantIndia MRP
12 GB + 256 GB₹59,999
16 GB + 512 GB₹64,999
16 GB + 1 TB₹69,999

That phone: Snapdragon 8 Gen 5, triple 50MP (LYTIA 828 + 3x periscope + ultrawide), 5,200 mAh, 90 W / 50 W wireless, 6.8-inch 165 Hz, 186 g. It is the floor Signature 27 must beat. It is also the warning. A seven-year update vow means nothing if month eight still wears January’s patch.

The India problem
Lenovo-Motorola will sell this as a “global first” that just happens to miss the first global week in the country that actually moves volume for the brand. When the MRP lands it will carry 18 percent GST and the same duty logic that turned a $1,199 iPhone 18 Pro into ₹1,64,900. Signature Club and Moto Elite Care are concierge stickers. They do not replace a service centre that answers. The first Signature already taught the lesson: launch loud, patch late, discount the 256 GB slab on Flipkart, call it premium.

Signature 27 may be the oddest-looking flagship of the year — a woven slab with a camera plateau that looks like it escaped 2010 and a Danish speaker logo. The silicon is current. The telephoto is serious. The price and the India calendar are still a blank. Until those two lines are printed, this is a Summit demo, not a purchase.

Disclaimer
India MRP and full camera/battery sheets for Signature 27 are unannounced. Unofficial spec tables can change at retail launch. This is news, not a buying guide.
